Lots of work has been going on in the blog work!
Have added 3 posts so far to the blog. Added students and user names.
All the user name problems have been solved and password have been corrected.
Blog is going better than I expected. Students are very excited. My school is a Title 1 School. Not all students have internet access. This exposure to blogging is a new experience for them.
Have worked collaboratively many hours with the 5th grade reading teacher on a historical fiction reading project. She is using the blog to post questions about the book they are reading. The edublogs sites has lots of good tips that I like to read and add to blog.

Snow Blog Block
Because of snow, blog has been delayed in ways. But this week it is getting underway well. Internet has been down in our school for past day and 1/2 but collaboration is going well with reading teacher with historical fiction section she wants me to work with. Feel like I am going to have to move my data time to this week and until February.

Colt Blog Log Continued
Snow has halted blog a little! Hopefully, end of the week can get kids to start adding to blog. Collaborating with 5th grade reading teacher to put historical fiction book reviews using Smarttalk with media center. Will put some of these on the blog to help promote this books. Need to add a component that allows students to talk to me to ask a question. Have decided to extend my dates a little longer than previously.

Weekend of Making the Blog
I have been designing my blog this weekend for the Colt Academy 5th graders for my applied project at UGA. I have blogged a lot but never set one up. I am using Edublogs. I have learned a lot about pages, categories, and tags for blogs. I am planning first lesson for fifth graders on Wednesday.

First Day
I started a blog of my journey of my applied project today. I will be developing a blog for my fourth and fifth grade students who are located in a different building to try to encourage reading. I have emailed my principal who is wholeheartedly behind the project. Students have access to a computer lab made for them and have 1-2 computers per classroom. They are not able to access the main library; however, the teachers bring them over weekly. I have built up a collection of about 600 books that are kept at the Colt Academy and are checked out by the receptionist. I want my blog to be a a daily way for students to access me and the main media center to meet any needs. I would also like to see how circulation affected and how students reading is impacted by reading and responding to the media center blog.
